Our Story

A different way to spend the winter

GreenNest was created from a simple idea:

What if spending the winter in Tanzania could be more than a holiday?

For many people in Northern Europe, the winter months can feel long, dark and cold. A traditional holiday often feels too short, too busy and too organised. You return home before you have truly slowed down.

GreenNest offers another way.

It is a place where guests can live in Tanzania for a while — for 4, 6, 8 or 12 weeks — in a warm climate, surrounded by space, nature and a calmer rhythm of life.

Why Tanzania?

Tanzania offers something special: warmth, open landscapes, friendly people, beautiful nature and a strong sense of outdoor living.

The Arusha region is especially suitable for a longer stay. It has a pleasant climate, access to nature, local culture and world-famous destinations, while still allowing guests to return to a peaceful home base.

GreenNest is located in the Kisongo / Mateves area near Arusha. From here, guests can enjoy quiet daily life, local experiences and carefully selected journeys in the surrounding region.

Not a hotel. Not a rushed travel programme.

GreenNest is not designed as a fast-paced tourist programme. It is a peaceful long-stay residence where guests can settle in, create their own rhythm and enjoy daily life at their own pace. Some guests may come to rest, read and enjoy the climate.
Others may want to walk, cycle, cook, garden, write, work remotely or join creative workshops.

Some may want to explore Arusha, visit local markets, join a Green Cooking experience or add a selected journey to places such as Arusha National Park, Moshi, Serengeti or Zanzibar.

Nothing is mandatory. Your rhythm, your choice.

A place with purpose

GreenNest is also connected to a wider mission. On the same site, the Green Cooking initiative works with local women and communities around cleaner, more efficient cooking. Guests can learn about local cooking traditions, join demonstrations, cook together and experience how practical sustainability can become part of daily life. This makes GreenNest more than a place to stay. It is a place where comfort, nature, community and sustainability come together.
