Climate & What to Pack

GreenNest is located near Arusha, where daytime temperatures typically range between 24–29°C, with cooler evenings around 14–18°C. The main dry season runs from June to October, while March–May and November–December bring the seasonal rains. For guests escaping the Northern European, US or Canadian winter, this steady, mild climate is one of the main attractions of staying in Tanzania.

We recommend bringing light clothing for daytime, a warmer layer for cooler evenings, comfortable shoes, sun protection and personal medication if needed.

Visa & Length of Stay

Most international visitors need a visa to enter Tanzania. The correct visa depends on nationality, purpose of travel and length of stay. Guests should always check the official Tanzania immigration website or the Tanzanian embassy before travelling.

For longer stays, it is important to check the permitted length of stay carefully before booking flights.

Health & Medical Care

Before travelling to Tanzania, guests should contact their doctor or travel clinic for personal medical advice, vaccinations and malaria prevention where relevant.

At GreenNest, all beds are fitted with mosquito nets and all rooms are regularly sprayed against mosquitoes. For long-stay guests, we strongly recommend suitable travel insurance that includes medical assistance, emergency support and repatriation. GreenNest can help guests understand what facilities and medical support are available in the Arusha area, but medical advice should always come from a qualified healthcare professional.

GreenNest is designed as a calm and organised place to stay. The entire property is fully fenced, with security present 24/7, and every accommodation is equipped with a safe. For international guests, local support and clear communication are important. We recommend that guests use normal travel awareness, follow local advice, keep important documents safe and arrange suitable travel insurance. Getting to GreenNest

Most international guests arrive via Kilimanjaro International Airport (about 1 hour 15 minutes from GreenNest) or Arusha Airport (about 15 minutes from GreenNest), depending on their travel route. GreenNest is located near Kisongo, in the wider Arusha area.

Local Transport

Local transport from the plot is simple and reliable. A taxi or TukTuk (Bajaji) can be arranged directly through GreenNest, and the DalaDala stops just 100 metres from the plot for those who prefer to travel like a local. Bicycles are also available.

Internet & Remote Work

Internet access is available via reliable WiFi with speeds of over 25 Mbps, making it suitable for remote work, video calls, email and everyday online use. Availability and speed may still differ from what guests are used to in Europe. Guests who depend on internet access for work are welcome to contact us in advance to discuss their specific requirements.

Money & Payments

Tanzania uses the Tanzanian Shilling. Bank or credit cards are accepted almost everywhere, and cash is widely available through ATMs. Euros and US dollars can also be exchanged for Tanzanian Shillings at many locations.

For longer stays, we recommend discussing payment arrangements clearly in advance.

Daily Life at GreenNest

GreenNest is intended for guests who want to live in Tanzania for a while, not rush from place to place. Each accommodation has its own private garden and private kitchen, and guests can choose to cook there or to cook together in the shared kitchen — optionally with the help of a cook. Guests also have access to a shared vegetable garden and a shared swimming pool. Breakfast is included. Daily life may include quiet mornings, outdoor time, simple routines, shared moments and selected local experiences.
